Brain injury is one of the leading causes of disability in the U.S. St. Johnland is one of five programs certified by the New York State Department of Health and the only one of its kind on Long Island. The program offers acute neurorehabilitation to patients aged 17+ who have suffered traumatic brain injury, aneurysm, anoxia, CVA, encephalitis or any diffuse brain damage.
Our interdisciplinary team of skilled, caring professionals offer an individually tailored and holistic approach to restoring function, self-esteem, dignity and hope. In addition to an aggressive program of physical, occupational and speech therapy, we also offer neurology, neuropsychology, social work and skilled nursing services. Therapy provides community re-entry activities, home evaluations and homemaker skills, as well as recreation programs geared to many different cognitive levels.
Our state-of-the-art program, in a beautiful and relaxing environment, has an exceptional success rate of returning most of our patients home within a one-year period.
